“Tragic Pedestrian Accident Near Bicentennial Park in Aurora”

A devastating accident took place overnight Tuesday near Bicentennial Park in Aurora, Colorado, resulting in the tragic death of a pedestrian.

The incident occurred around 1:49 a.m., in the vicinity of East Alameda Parkway and South Potomac Street intersection, just about 100 feet east.

According to reports from the Aurora Police Department, a 2016 Cadillac ATS traveling west on Alameda collided with a man crossing the street from south to north in the middle of the block on Alameda.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was immediately transported to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will announce his identity after the next of kin have been informed.

The driver involved in the incident remained at the location and fully cooperated with the investigative authorities, as stated by the Aurora police.

Due to the ongoing investigation, westbound Alameda between Interstate 225 and Potomac Street was closed for over two hours. The Aurora Police Department announced that the road was reopened around 4 a.m.

Preliminary findings from the Aurora PD indicate that neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors to the collision.

Regrettably, this incident marks the 25th traffic-related fatality in Aurora this year, highlighting the ongoing need for vigilance and caution while on the roads.
